Interest in Riccardo Calafiori by Arsenal

Following his outstanding performances at Euro 2024, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal has expressed interest in signing Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori.

Growth in Calafiori’s Stock

One of the most sought-after players in Europe these days is the defender. In addition to having a fantastic season with Bologna, he made a big impact for Italy in the European Championship.

From Arsenal’s Perspective

Calafiori’s performances have impressed Arsenal, who see him as a solid contender for the left-footed center back position. The Gunners are keen to add elite players from the Euros to their roster, but they will have to contend with competition from other elite teams like Juventus and Real Madrid.

Negotiations’ current state

Romano states that Arsenal is interested in the center back but makes it clear that formal negotiations have not yet begun. In a statement to The Sun, Romano stated:

“Arsenal reached out to Calafiori to find out the player’s circumstances. It’s also common to be searching for a left-footed defender or player. One of the greatest varieties currently on the market is calabari.

Although Arsenal has expressed interest in the matter, there isn’t a negotiation going on right now. This is merely an inquiry to learn more about Calafiori’s circumstances—there is neither a bid nor communication with Bologna.

Only Arsenal’s Views

At the moment, Gabriel Magalhães, an Arsenal left-footed center-back, is excellent. But if the team signs Calafiori, Magalhães will have to prove he’s still the better choice.
