Arsenal defeated Burnley 3-1 at Emirates Stadium yesterday to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after a controversial 1-0 loss to Newcastle United the previous weekend.

Leandro Trossard, William Saliba, and Oleksandr Zinchenko scored goals for the Gunners, who prevailed despite Fabio Vieira’s red card in the 83rd minute.

With his first goal of the season and excellent technique, the Ukraine international defender calmed the nerves of Arsenal supporters as Burnley attempted to rally after Josh Brownhill had neutralized Trossard’s effort.

Jurrien Timber posted an emoji response on Instagram that clearly conveyed how surprised he was by the acrobatic finish.

Zinchenko doesn’t always score, but if he keeps putting himself in advantageous positions, as he showed yesterday, he can do so consistently.

To increase their chances of winning the Premier League, Arsenal needs goals from all over the field, and having two defenders score on Saturday is a big help.

They now share the same number of points as Manchester City, the league leaders, and they will be confident that they can challenge the defending champions this year.

Given Arsenal’s numerous injuries this season, the international break is perfectly timed.

When they play Brentford at Gtech Community Stadium on November 25, manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping for some relief from injuries.

If the Gunners are going to win a significant trophy this season, they are going to need all the squad depth they can get, and the constant criticism isn’t helping.

They will have to add to their roster during the January transfer window, and they have to perform well to avoid having another season-ending letdown.
