Former Arsenal player scores and assists to put his team top of the league

Stephy Mavididi is enjoying life in the Championship for Leicester City so far this season.

In 2011, Stephy Mavididi, then 13 years old, enrolled in the Arsenal academy. Sadly, he never went on to play in a competitive match for the Gunners; he was out on loan until 2018 before transferring to Juventus in Italy. He then moved to Montpellier in France, where he played over 90 times and scored 21 goals.

He currently works for Leicester City in the Championship after moving there in the summer for a little under £6 million. He most recently shone for the Foxes on Friday night as they blasted Southampton to take the lead in the Championship.

The 25-year-old has appeared in six games for Leicester City this season, contributing to two goals and two assists so far, suggesting that he has adapted well to his new team.

After being benched in the game against Hull City prior to the international break, he came out against Southampton with something to prove. Just 20 seconds into the game, the 25-year-old accomplished precisely that as he sprinted into the penalty area and set up Jamie Vardy, who scored to make it 1-0.

The game became 3-1 before halftime thanks to Mavididi’s spectacular reverse pass, which he accomplished once more as a provider. Wilfred Ndidi scored the goal that made the score 3-1. After intercepting the ball deep within his own half and sprinting the length of the field to score on a breakaway, Mavididi put an end to Southampton’s second-half comeback attempts.
