Leandro Trossard has spoken to Mikel Arteta about the lack of minutes so far this season.
Leandro Trossard is one of a select group of Arsenal players who had difficulty playing regularly at the Emirates Stadium this year. The Belgian has only made one start in the Premier League under Mikel Arteta and hasn’t assisted on any goals, but he did score in the Community Shield final at Wembley, which helped Arsenal force a shootout and defeat Manchester City to win the cup.
Leandro Trossard has only played 60 minutes of Premier League football out of the first four games since Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Jesus, Bukyao Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli have all been favoured up top.
Leandro Trossard claims that when on international duty, he spoke to Mikel Arteta about his insufficient playing time, and the Arsenal manager told him it was up to him whether or not he wanted to play.
Speaking to the Belgian media, Leandro Trossard said, “At Arsenal, we play a game every three days, so it’s impossible to play with the same players every time. I must present myself when I have the chance. Mikel, the coach, also informed me about that.
Beginning in the next month, Arsenal will compete in the Champions League for the first time in seven years. The Gunners’ players who haven’t played much so far this season will have a chance to shine in the Champions League the following month, and guys like Trossard, Smith Rowe, Nelson, and others are prepared to seize the moment.
Due to a lack of squad depth, Arsenal failed to win the Premier League title last season. Mikel Arteta was adamant that this season wouldn’t be the same after spending over £200 million this summer. The Arsenals have significantly increased the depth of their roster with the goal of winning all four competitions come May.
After relocating to North London in January of this year, Leandro Trossard is still an important component of Mikel Arteta’s ambitions.
