Gabriel Magalhaes is finally set to make his debut for Brazil tonight

After it was announced that Gabriel Magalhaes will start for Brazil against Bolivia on Friday night, the Arsenal center-back is finally scheduled to make his international debut tonight. Gabriel will start tonight’s opening match of Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers, according to ESPN Brazil.

Ederson, Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel, Renan Lodi, Casemiro, Bruno Guimaraes, Neymar, Raphinha, Rodrygo, and Richarlison make up the Brazilian starting eleven, according to ESPN.

Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, two additional Arsenal talents who were called up during the international break but did not make the starting lineup for the match against Bolivia, will therefore start the game on the bench. Gabriel will get his first cap for Brazil since he has never been called up to play for the national team, unlike Jesus and Martinelli who both represented their country at the World Cup in Qatar.

There had previously been conflict between the player and the previous Brazil management because Gabriel had been benched after deciding to put his child’s birth first. Juninho Paulista, a former national team coordinator for Brazil, recently discussed the subject in an interview with the Brazilian media.

Juninho claims that Gabriel’s exclusion from the World Cup roster was caused by his request to miss a few World Cup qualifiers in March of last year in order to give birth to his child.

Gabriel is given these options, says Juninho. I experienced that. I was waiting in England when my kid was born, but the next day I flew to Brazil since I had hurt my knee and needed to get better as soon as possible.
