Man City 'considering' Riyad Mahrez replacement from Ligue 1 and other transfer rumours

A look at the latest transfer gossip and rumours surrounding Man City

According to reports, Manchester City is considering a move for Lyon’s prodigy Bradley Barcola.

According to 90min, City see the 20-year-old as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who is expected to sign a £30 million contract with Al Ahli. This summer, a number of well-known athletes are relocating to the Saudi Pro League, and the Algerian winger’s five-year spell in Manchester appears to be coming to an end.

Barcola is seen as a player who might step in for Mahrez. This transfer season, City have lost Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona, and Bernardo Silva’s near future is unknown. Along with his club teammate Rayan Cherki, the France Under-21 international is rumoured to have been scouted by City.

Barcola received his senior debut in Lyon colors back in January 2023. In 25 Ligue 1 games, he finished with five goals and eight assists. The attacker is said to have ‘thoroughly impressed’ City, and Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig are also said to be interested in signing him.

Cole Palmer is reportedly wanted by Brighton and Hove Albion on a long-term basis. The Seagulls are reportedly leading the competition for Palmer, who hasn’t played much for the City so far this season. The Telegraph reports that City manager Pep Guardiola has ‘no intention’ of signing Palmer, despite The Athletic’s claim that Brighton would prefer to buy Palmer than to loan him out.
