NEWS FLASH: David De Gea of Manchester United wins the Premier League Golden Glove award after Liverpool's Alisson made a mistake that prevented anyone from catching up.

  • David De Gea, the goalkeeper for Manchester United, will receive the Golden Glove trophy for the Premier League as it proved impossible for any other keeper to catch De Gea, who has preserved 16 clean sheets this season. Alisson of Liverpool, who currently has 14 shutouts, gave up against Aston Villa on Saturday at Anfield.

Nick Pope of Newcastle and Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal, both with 13 clean sheets, are unable to overtake De Gea, who has been crowned the title outright.

The Spaniard, who last won the Premier League’s top goalkeeping award in 2017–18, has only won it twice.

De Gea, 32, has received criticism on numerous occasions this season, most recently for the mistake that allowed West Ham to score in their victory against United this month. Despite this, De Gea has managed to prevent his team’s goals from being conceded in over half of their league games.
