In a cooking marathon, Nigerian Hilda Baci smashes the world record.

The Nigerian chef Hilda Bassey Effiong, also

known as Hilda Baci, recently broke the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest cooking marathon by a single person.

At the Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos, early on Monday, Baci accomplished the new accomplishment.

The restaurant owner switched on her stove at precisely 4 o’clock on Thursday, and the contest—better known as a cook-athon—began.

The current Guinness World Record holder and Indian chef Lata Tondon set her record at 87 hours and 45 minutes, which Baci sought to surpass. In 2019, Tondon accomplished the feat.

However, the Nigerian broke the previous record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual on Monday by beating Tondon’s time.

It is believed that Baci would end the cook-a-thon when she reaches the 97-hour mark.

As previously reported by TheCable Lifestyle, thousands of Nigerians flocked to Lekki to show their support for the Akwa-Ibom chef.

Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, praised Hilda for “standing at the crossroads of history” while the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, paid a visit to the Lekki location.

Numerous famous people came to the tournament site to support Baci, including Dremo, IK Osakioduwa, Eni Adeoluwa, Timini Egbuson, Liquorose, Tiwa Savage, Spyro, Charles Okocha, and Skiibii.
