Senator Annie Okonkwo pass away at 63

Okonkwo, who was 63 years old, passed away on Wednesday after nearly recovering from a brief illness, according to P.M. Express.

Former senator and member of the sixth National Assembly from Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Clement Annie Okonkwo, has passed away.

Okonkwo, who was 63 years old, passed away on Wednesday after nearly recovering from a brief illness, according to P.M. Express.

The news comes only a few days before his son Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, the state’s Idemili North and South Federal Constituency House of Representatives member-elect, is set to be sworn in.

From 2007 to 2011, the deceased, who was elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, represented the District in the Sixth National Assembly.

He also ran for governor in the State’s 2010 election for governor, however he was defeated by Peter Obi, the incumbent governor at the time, who went on to win reelection.

His family has not yet made an official statement regarding his passing.
