Manager Mikel Arteta has outlined his ultimate transfer plan, and he fully supports Gabriel Jesus’ resolve to stay at Arsenal and compete for a spot in the starting lineup. Jesus’ stay at Arsenal was thought to be coming to an end this summer despite worries about injuries, the £65 million arrival of Kai Havertz, and significant transfer offers from Saudi Arabia.
The 27-year-old, though, came into this season determined to prove himself and earn first-team time under Arteta. Jesus appeared to have paid off because on the first day of the season, Arsenal defeated Wolves 2-0 with his help. The Brazilian forward is still essential to Arteta’s plans, and the team doesn’t seem to be looking for a new striker, as was confirmed after the game.
Jesus, despite reported £60 million offers from Saudi Pro League teams, is reportedly determined to fight for his place at Arsenal. After the first-day victory, Arteta has now acknowledged and rewarded Jesus’ ambition, saying he is happy with his attacking options at the moment.
“I have faith in [Havertz], we have faith in [Gabriel Jesus], and Leandro [Trossard] has also played in that position,” Arteta said in a talkSPORT interview. Our team is made up of a variety of talents, so the best thing we can do is have faith in them and work to develop them. We are concentrating on them because they are gifted and dedicated.
Jesus had already received praise from Arteta for his diligence and growth, particularly during Arsenal’s preseason trip to the United States. In a 2-1 victory over Manchester United, Jesus distinguished himself, and Arteta emphasized the Brazilian’s commitment to improving his physical state throughout the summer.
Arteta remarked, “He looks really sharp,” following Jesus’ equalizer against United. “During the break, he made a lot of changes, and he returned in excellent shape. You can add to a player’s strong foundation when they have one. They can’t give their best work without it. He has acknowledged that, and I am quite happy with what he has demonstrated.
