Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has ended rumors that the team was interested in signing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. Arteta reiterated that Arsenal’s priority is developing the talent already present in the team and expressed complete confidence in his current roster.
After Napoli acquired Romelu Lukaku, there had been rumors that Arsenal was interested in Osimhen. However, Arteta made it apparent that the club is happy with their attacking options. He emphasized the efforts of Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Jesus while reiterating Arsenal’s current players’ improvement as their primary objective.
“We have a few excellent strikers. We think we have everything we need, and Gabi [Gabriel Jesus] is there, Kai [Havertz] has performed there for a long time, and Leo [Leandro Trossard] has performed there. We have complete faith in our players,” Arteta said, according to Independent UK.
Now that Arteta has ruled out chasing Osimhen, Chelsea is the main Premier League team showing real interest in the prolific Nigerian forward. After selling high earner Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea is in a strong position to negotiate a deal within the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.
