Arsenal is preparing a last-minute bid to sign “incredible” £70 million Trossard again.

While it appeared that Arsenal would have to make do with Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori, they are now reportedly prepared to make a last-ditch effort to sign an offensive reinforcement, similar to their 2023 deal for Leandro Trossard.

Arsenal transfer news

In the summer transfer window, Arsenal once again displayed a high degree of intelligence, which not too long ago would have come as a welcome surprise to many supporters. After a stellar season with Bologna, where he helped the Italian team secure shock Champions League qualification, the Gunners opened their window by signing Calafiori. Now, it appears that they will be adding Merino to their roster.

Enhancing Mikel Arteta’s midfield and defense, North Londoners still have time to welcome an attacking addition to The Emirates to finish the ideal summer, and one Premier League player may make the move.

Football Transfers reports that in addition to Manchester City’s interest, Arsenal is now prepared to make a last-ditch effort to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson. Despite the forward’s £70 million price tag, the Gunners are said to prefer a loan agreement before making a permanent move the following summer.

Ferguson, who is only 19 years old, will probably need some time to develop to his full potential under Arteta. He will most likely replace departing player Eddie Nketiah rather than Gabriel Jesus, but his potential is evident.

Naturally, Arsenal has already benefited from signing Brighton players in the past. After bringing Trossard to The Emirates in January 2023, Arteta has seen the winger flourish, as evidenced by the fact that he scored the game’s first goal in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Ferguson’s ability to finally resolve Arteta’s outstanding issue is “incredible.”

It is easy to see how prepared this Arsenal team is to take on Pep Guardiola’s winning machine for a third straight season if you look around the team, but there is still one issue.

Jesus is a great player, but as the previous season demonstrated, and as the current campaign is likely to show, he is not an automatic goal scorer. It is the only grievance that Arteta’s side still has, and it is the one that Ferguson may be able to resolve for some time to come.

The Irishman, who is only 19 years old and has already scored three goals in the Premier League, caught the attention of former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi in May 2023. The Irish Mirror quoted the manager as saying, “Ferguson’s improvement has been incredible.” Despite being only 18, he plays like an experienced player. The mindset in the dressing room is to support all of our younger players, which is good.

We’ve seen this kind of progress at Arsenal with players like William Saliba, Kai Havertz, and Trossard, and it would only continue there. Nevertheless, it is unclear if the Gunners and Brighton can reach an agreement with a few days remaining before the summer transfer window closes.
