MIKEL ARTETA REVEALS STRIKER ARSENAL COULD SIGN FOLLOWING GABRIEL JESUS’ INJURY

Mikel Arteta has revealed what Arsenal will do in the transfer market following the injury to Gabriel Jesus

After Gabriel Jesus’ injury, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that the team is actively seeking to sign a new striker.

On Saturday night, Arsenal defeated Aston Villa 2-0 to begin the Premier League season with their second straight victory. However, the Brazilian forward was not in the squad.

Leandro Trossard broke the scoreless draw for the Gunners at Villa Park with a strike from the edge of the box, and Thomas Partey completed the victory. Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa missed a few opportunities, but Arsenal’s masterful finishing made sure they came away with the victory.

The team announced prior to the game that Jesus was out with a groin injury and that an MRI would be performed to determine the extent of the injury. Jesus has suffered from a number of injuries since moving from Manchester City to Arsenal two years ago, which has caused him to miss important games.

Given that Kai Havertz is the only available striker and Eddie Nketiah is anticipated to join Nottingham Forest, Arteta admitted that Arsenal’s attacking depth is a concern. The team is expected to add Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad to bolster their midfield after already adding Riccardo Calafiori to strengthen their defense. Arteta did, however, highlight the necessity of more firepower up front prior to the summer transfer window closing on Friday.

After the victory, Arteta said to Sky Sports, “We are really happy with the squad we have.” It’s true that we also suffered an injury from Gabriel Jesus, and we felt his absence. We therefore have a slight shortage. We love the ones we have right now; they are very, very good, but if we can do better, we will.

Arteta answered, “If everybody is fit, yes,” when asked if he thought Arsenal’s current team was good enough to contend for the Premier League championship. However, this is the reason we need everyone to be readily available. We don’t have twenty-three outfield players, and typically you need to have that kind of equipment. We must have faith in our academy athletes and ensure that we take good care of the ones we have.

Numerous well-known strikers, including Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting Lisbon, have been linked to Arsenal. Both players are anticipated to be traded this summer. Ivan Toney was a January target for the team, but it seems that interest in the Brentford forward has waned.

Arsenal will be eager to sign a new forward as the transfer window closes to make sure they are prepared to contend for the championship this year.
