Although Alan Shearer recognizes the tremendous strides Arsenal has made under Mikel Arteta, he is adamant that the manager of the Gunners needs to start winning titles soon.
Although Arteta took over a difficult situation at the Emirates, he changed the club’s culture to one that is winning-oriented.
Arteta brought to Arsenal invaluable experience and ideas from his time working alongside Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, which helped the team improve.
Arsenal is arguably developing as a competitive team ahead of schedule even though they haven’t won the Premier League yet.
Now, Arteta’s goals for this season are the Premier League and perhaps the Champions League.
Shearer points out that even though Arteta isn’t under a lot of pressure just yet, it will eventually increase, so he needs to secure silverware as the next step.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the former striker stated:
But whether it happens this season or not, he will eventually need to succeed. But doesn’t that have to happen eventually?
Without a doubt, we all understand how formidable Manchester City is, which presents a significant challenge for Arsenal. But their progress has been excellent, and eventually he will need to succeed and go one step further.
During the past few seasons that Arteta has been our manager, we have performed admirably. Trophies will be won sooner rather than later, we can tell.
