Paul Scholes has advised Arsenal to finalize the signing of Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer, as he would contribute 25 goals per season to their squad.
Toney’s admirer, former Manchester United midfielder Scholes, is evident as he suggests that the England international would score that many goals for almost any Premier League team.
Although Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard distributed the scoring load fairly evenly for Arsenal last season, there’s undoubtedly a case to be made for Mikel Arteta to bring in a more consistent goal scorer to help his team cross the finish line in the title race.
With Manchester City defeating them on the last day, Arsenal missed out on a chance to end their twenty-year league winning drought last season. It begs the question of whether they could have gone further if they had a more reliable finisher during that challenging stretch before the winter break.
Is Toney the perfect addition to Arsenal?
Scholes told The Overlap that he believes Toney, 28, will give the Gunners the necessary advantage because he has a track record of scoring goals at this level.
The number of goals they scored makes it difficult to argue that they don’t have enough up there, according to Scholes.
“I do believe that signing a center forward would help, even though it was absurd.” Of course, it would help to sign a pure number nine who can assure you of scoring 25 goals.
Are those athletes still active? Ivan Toney has received a lot of attention; in that Arsenal squad, I believe he scores 25 goals. I believe he leads many teams in goals scored with 25.
Although there is currently a bit of a shortage of younger players, fans would undoubtedly welcome Toney as a backup option at the very least. Arsenal may prefer to go with a younger player.
