Mikel Arteta sent a player out on loan for the upcoming season, and former Arsenal star Matteo Guendouzi has heaped praise on him.
Given the size of the Gunners’ roster, it was always the intention to trade or loan out a number of players during this window.
Although it hasn’t been particularly simple, Arteta and Edu Gaspar are putting in a lot of effort behind the scenes to accomplish their transfer goals.
A few players have already been kicked out of Arsenal.
One of them seems to have a lot of support from Guendouzi, who has helped him grow into one of the best players in his position.
Matteo Guendouzi shares what he’s ‘100 per cent’ sure about Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares
Arsenal has had Nuno Tavares on their roster since the summer of 2021.
The Portuguese full-back, who was signed by the Gunners from Benfica, had an incredible debut in the renowned red and white uniform.
But in the second part of his rookie campaign, he lost confidence, and Arteta hasn’t really trusted Tavares since.
The defender has already spent two stints away on loan, and Arsenal has now sent him to Lazio in Serie A on another loan. This time, though, the Gunners have added an obligation to buy to the agreement.
One man is very happy that Tavares will join Lazio on a permanent contract in 2025—former Gunner Gunedouzi.
The Frenchman and Tavares had a friendly encounter in Marseille and are now back together. Gunedouzi is now raving about him.
Speaking on the Lazio Style Channel, he said, “I know Nuno Tavares,” according to HITC’s translation. We were teammates at Marseille, and I consider him a friend.I pushed for his arrival when he called to tell me that Lazio was searching for him because I know he is an excellent player and I believe he has the potential to be among Italy’s best full-backs.
“He possesses admirable traits. I have complete faith in his abilities.
Tavares’ price tag was huge in 2022
Although Tavares is a gifted player, Arteta’s Arsenal system was not a good fit for him.
The Portuguese defender can make a significant contribution in the attacking third due to his exceptional dribbling abilities and lightning-fast speed.
That’s why Edu signed him, and a year after he did, rumors circulated claiming Arsenal had demanded £35 million for Tavares.
Arsenal has now decided to sell him to Lazio for a price between £5.9 million and £6.75 million (Fabrizio Romano) next year because that valuation was never reached.
While moving away this summer was the best course of action for all parties, it is unfortunate for Arsenal.
