BREAKING: Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are prepared to spend more than £25 million to sign the “duel monster.” Contacts have already been established, and the team is awaiting the player’s “YES.”

ARSENAL WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY £25 MILLION TO SIGN REAL SOCIEDAD MIDFIELDER MIKEL MERINO.

Arsenal is reportedly looking to add a new midfield player during the current transfer window, and they have already determined who their top target is.

The club would be willing to pay £25 million without any deadlines in order to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino, according to Mundo Deportivo (page 4).

The 28-year-old, who is in the last year of his Sociedad contract, is expected to make a decision soon. Barcelona and an unidentified Bundesliga club are also keen to sign him.

Although Merino hasn’t said “no” to moving to England, he hasn’t said “yes” either.

GUNNERS INTENDED TO SIGN MERINO PRIOR TO BARCELONA

Although Merino has spent the last six seasons with Sociedad, he seems receptive to a fresh challenge.

He might find moving to the Premier League to be an alluring idea. In his one and only season with Newcastle United in 2017–18, the Spaniard failed to leave much of an impact.

His tenure in San Sebastian has improved his reputation. Merino is most at ease in the number eight position, but he can play both defensive and central midfield.

The 28-year-old scored eight goals and contributed five assists during the most recent campaign. In addition, he played excellent defense, averaging 10.2 duels, 6.4 recoveries, and nearly two tackles per game.

Merino would fit manager Mikel Arteta’s playing style perfectly and has a high work rate as well.

Kieran Tierney, an Arsenal defender, called Merino a “world-class” player. He would, in our opinion, be a great addition to the team and bring more quality and experience.
