Bologna and Basel, Riccardo Calafiori’s former team, are at odds over a sell-on fee clause, according to Football London.
Basel wants half of the roughly £38 million fee that Arsenal and Bologna have agreed upon, as per their original terms.
Basel’s assertion is being contested by Bologna, who feel they had a greater influence on Calafiori’s ascent to prominence. So Bologna feels that they should retain a larger portion of the money.
Without a resolution between the two clubs, Calafiori’s future is still uncertain.
Next week, the 22-year-old defender is scheduled to report to Bologna for preseason training. Whether Arsenal can reach an agreement before then is still up in the air.
