Arsenal have just tabled a whopping £42M bid to sign Defensive midfielder who scored more goals than even James Maddison as Mikel Arteta eyes the best possible Thomas Partey replacement

It’s highly likely that Arsenal will bolster their midfield in the summer.

In addition to Mohamed Elneny and Jorginho’s contracts expiring at the end of the campaign, Thomas Partey could leave the Gunners. Mikel Arteta’s team will be severely lacking in midfield if they all depart.

After being signed three months ago, Teun Koopmeiners is expected to receive an offer from Arsenal, one of the top center-forwards in the game has been linked to the club.

TuttoJuve claims this week that the Dutch defensive midfielder is on the radar of Juventus, who are also looking to strengthen their midfield in the summer.

However, the Old Lady cannot compete financially with English clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, who could reportedly offer between £42-51 million (€50-60 million) to sign the central midfielder at the end of the season.

Koopmeiners, who joined Atalanta from AZ Alkmaar in 2021, has a contract that does not expire until the summer of 2027.

Koopmeiners is a goal-scoring defensive midfielder.

Teun Koopmeiners is a unique player whose statistics are simply remarkable, but defensive midfielders are never expected to score a lot of goals.

The Dutchman has amassed an incredible 33 goals and 10 assists in his final two seasons at AZ Alkmaar—a remarkable total for a number six. He matched the record of 10 goals he scored for Atalanta in the previous season.

In contrast, he has scored more goals in all competitions this season than Martin Odegaard and James Maddison, the two best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.

Although Koopmeiners would be a fantastic addition to many teams this summer, it remains to be seen if Arsenal will genuinely put in a bid to sign him.
