Benjamin Sesko is currently being negotiated about his release clause by RB Leipzig, and Arsenal is getting ready to make a move for him.

In an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke disclosed that Leipzig is trying to oust Sesko’s contract’s release clause in order to complicate matters. The reported value of the 21-year-old’s release clause is £42.5 million.

Sesko is Mikel Arteta’s main target as he looks to bolster Arsenal’s offensive lineup with Kai Havertz for the upcoming campaign. Although Viktor Gyokeres, 25, has garnered interest as well, the Gunners may be put off by Sporting CP’s high asking price.

When Sesko’s release clause expires at the end of June, Arsenal is expected to secure his transfer before then, according to a May 23 report from Football Insider.

Following Recent Developments, Arsenal Pushes for a Benjamin Sesko Deal

In 2023, Sesko left RB Salzburg for RB Leipzig in a £20 million transfer. With 18 goals in 42 games during his rookie campaign, he has drawn the attention of multiple prospective buyers. In addition to scoring 11 goals in 28 games for his country, Slovenia, he made 31 appearances in the Bundesliga, where he scored 14 of his goals.

Sesko had a slow start to the season, managing just two goals in his first 15 league games for Leipzig. However, by the end of the campaign, his form took off. In all but three of Leipzig’s final 16 Bundesliga games, he had either a goal or an assist. He has scored in each of his last seven games.

Other European clubs like Arteta and Arsenal have taken notice of this outstanding end-of-season performance. Now, the Gunners are determined to get his autograph.

Havertz has played well in the late part of the season, but Arteta’s team has a history of attacking problems. Sesko is thought to be the best option to deal with Arsenal’s striker problems.
