As his time in Spain comes to an end, Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad appears to have made up his mind, supposedly favoring a move to Arsenal. In spite of Norwich City’s interest and his prior connections to Manchester United, the 24-year-old midfielder seems to have his sights set on the Gunners.

Since making his Real Sociedad debut in the 2019–20 season and securing his spot as a consistent starter the following year, Zubimendi has been a standout performer. He doesn’t play with much flair, but he has a similar style to Sergio Busquets, if not quite as good as the Barcelona legend did in his prime.

Leading teams in Europe are interested in Zubimendi because of his 172 Sociedad appearances and four Spain captaincy awards. Arsenal appears to be in the lead in the race to sign the midfield player, despite Manchester United having previously been linked to him.

According to recent reports from the Spanish newspaper Nacional, Zubimendi has chosen Arsenal over Manchester United, which is a setback for United’s rival in the Premier League. Arsenal is prepared to pay the valuation for one of Sociedad’s most valuable assets, with a rumored buyout clause of €60 million (£51 million).

READ MORE  Arsenal should lose the Premier League title because the referee favored Liverpool, as the strange ruling was made in response to the Gunners' complaints about Darwin Nunez's overtime winner against Nottingham Forest yesterday. Before Darwin Nunez's goal in the 99th minute gave Liverpool a thrilling victory, Nottingham Forest faced controversy in a dramatic turn of events at the City Ground. After recovering from an injury, the Uruguayan forward scored a vital goal to increase Liverpool's lead in the Premier League standings. The argument started when Calum Hudson-Odoi and Forest had possession as they attempted to score a winning goal of their own. But in the 97th minute, referee Paul Tierney incorrectly gave Liverpool a drop ball. A drop ball is only given to the goalkeeper of the opposing team in accordance with IFAB regulations if the ball was in the penalty area when play was stopped. The player on the team that last touched the ball at the spot where it last touched a player should receive a drop ball from the referee in all other situations.
