Arsenal ramp up Newcastle transfer chase as Arteta is warned against signing top target

Joshua Zirkzee, a forward for Bologna, is not as good as their other attacking targets, Arsenal has been informed.

The likes of Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, Victor Osimhen of Napoli, and Alexander Isak of Newcastle have all been connected to Mikel Arteta’s team.

This season, Zirkzee, 22, has made an impression at Bologna as the Serie A team continues to perform above expectations.

It will be less than 50 days until Euro 2024. Reserve a room using Marriott Bonvoy.

Bologna has advanced to the point where they could qualify for the Champions League the following season under Thiago Motta’s direction.

Zirkzee has played age-group internationals for the Netherlands, but he holds dual qualifications from Nigeria. Zirkzee is thought to be eager to play for the Netherlands, but he has not yet committed to an international career.

In Serie A this season, he has tallied 11 goals and five assists. Zirkzee is a strong, dynamic striker with the build of a conventional No 9, and his potential is obvious.

Is Joshua Zirkzee good enough for Arsenal?

However, transfer expert Charles Watts was undecided when asked what he thought of Zirkzee.

Although Watts is confident in his potential as a star, he is skeptical about his ability to contribute to Arsenal.

“Ahead of the summer transfer window, a number of strikers have been linked to Arsenal.

“There are some who are slightly less well known, like Joshua Zirkzee at Bologna, but there are some who are real big hitters, like Alexander Isak at Newcastle and Victor Osimhen at Napoli,” Watts said to CaughtOffside.

“Arsenal has been monitoring this forward,” according to reliable reports.

“Sam Dean of the Daily Telegraph first revealed Arsenal’s interest in Zirkzee back in January, and as the summer approaches, that connection is only becoming stronger. He’s an intriguing player who appears headed for a major move soon.”

Arsenal told to prioritize move for Alexander Isak

According to Watts, Zirkzee is not yet the kind of player that Arsenal is looking to sign.

He thinks the Gunners will try to sign a striker who can lead them to significant awards.

Watts acknowledged that he hasn’t watched much Zirkzee, but his first impression is that he won’t succeed at Arsenal right away.

Watts continued, “He’s not someone I’ve seen a lot of, so I can’t pretend to be an expert on him, but he’s clearly got a lot of potential and would add something to Arsenal’s squad that they don’t really have in attack.”

I’m not sure, though, if he could make a significant enough difference for Arsenal at this time.

“I don’t think Zirkzee does that, and I think Arsenal are at a point now where any big-money additions really need to come in and improve the squad immediately.”

“A forward who can step in and start right away is what Arsenal really needs, but it would be a case of buying potential, and while there is always room for that.

“For this reason, I still think they should do everything in their power to remove Isak from Newcastle.”
