Supercomputer delivers new Arsenal Premier League title stat after Aston Villa defeat

Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title have significantly decreased following their 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa.

The Gunners failed to capitalize on Liverpool’s error against Crystal Palace, as the three points were won in north London by former manager Unai Emery. Late in the second half, goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins within three minutes of each other dealt the Gunners their first setback of 2024 and increased their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

Eberechi Eze, on the other hand, stunned Liverpool by scoring the game-winning goal at Anfield. As a result, despite Arsenal having a superior goal differential, Jurgen Klopp’s team is still tied with them for points.

Before the outcome this past weekend, a supercomputer had projected City to win the league for the fourth time in a row. After the two losses, not much has changed in that aspect, with City’s chances greatly increased. They have a 70.1 percent chance of winning the title after seeing a 29.5% increase.

The team led by Pep Guardiola defeated Luton Town 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium. In the first few minutes, Daiki Hashioka scored an own goal. Mateo Kovacic, Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, and Josko Gvardiol scored goals in the second half, while Ross Barkley gave the visitors a consolation goal.

With regard to Arsenal and Liverpool, their respective chances are now 18.3% and 11.7%. The Opta supercomputer predicted that Liverpool would drop 17.4% and the Gunners would drop 12%.

However, I believe that in the second half, we were lacking a lot of things, and as a result, the game became more even and stretched out with less action. Then, it was a huge blow when we gave up the goal. The second one was more significant in the way it occurred.”

Arteta continued, “We knew this moment could come and now it’s about reacting and keeping believing and doing what we can do,” in response to a question about his team’s ability to turn the tide.

“We are at a loss for ideas. You must take action when these opportunities present themselves if you want to win titles and play in the Champions League. If not, it indicates that you lack a very important quality. It’s a big test for us now.
