Robert Pires, a former player for Arsenal, hinted that Kylian Mbappe might still decide against joining Real Madrid this summer.

It appears that Mbappe will sign with Real Madrid when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires in the summer. The France international has been strongly linked to leaving PSG in recent seasons, and it’s looking more and more likely that the rumors will come to pass this summer.

Earlier this year, there were hints that Arsenal and Premier League rival Liverpool were interested in signing Mbappe. Mbappe has been linked to both teams for some time. But in the event that Mbappe leaves PSG, rumors have it that Real Madrid is the team he is most likely to sign with.

Pires signed with Arsenal in 2000 after leaving Marseille, so he has experience moving abroad. The adaptable midfield player went on to win two Premier League titles and three FA Cups while scoring 85 goals in 284 appearances.

The former Arsenal player has disclosed that, although he too had the chance to sign with Real Madrid, he declined the offer in favor of joining Arsenal. Speaking about Mbappe’s future, Pires hypothesized that a transfer to the Premier League might benefit the PSG star in the same way that it did for him 24 years prior.

Pires told AS, “I’m sorry, Kylian, but you weren’t the first player to say no to Real Madrid.” “I declined Madrid because I had two other options, but I’m not sure what choice he will ultimately make.

“I’m positive that I would have chosen Real Madrid over Arsenal or Juventus if I hadn’t had the chance. Yes, without a doubt.

Pires continued by naming the Premier League team that he hopes Mbappe will sign with this summer. Pires gave an explanation of why he would be happy to see Mbappe move to Merseyside rather than naming Arsenal.

“I hope to see him at Liverpool,” Pires remarked. “There is no pressure, it’s a great family club, and the supporters are sensible.

Plus, I believe a Salah-Mbappé collaboration could be extremely fruitful. I believe he has the ability to turn down Real Madrid.
