Thomas Frank: “Kai Havertz ought to have been dismissed during Arsenal’s loss”

Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, asserted that Kai Havertz ought to have been dismissed prior to his game-winning goal in Arsenal’s 2-1 triumph over the Bees.

Declan Rice’s opening goal in the 19th minute was cancelled out by Yoane Wissa’s goal in first-half stoppage time, putting Frank’s team on track to steal a point from the title contenders.

But just as in the rematch in November, Havertz scored a late winner to leave Brentford with no results.
Frank feels that the Germany international, who was accused of diving in the box in response to a challenge from Nathan Collins, was lucky to still be on the field.

Already given a booking, Havertz seemed to go to the ground expecting the Brentford defender to make contact as he dangled his right leg in the direction of the Arsenal striker.

Havertz was spared punishment for what Frank called a “clear dive,” despite the Brentford players’ appeals for a second yellow card directed at referee Rob Jones.

After the game on Saturday, Frank stated in an interview with Sky Sports, “I actually think, and I would never normally do this, but I think Havertz shouldn’t have been on the pitch when he scored the goal.”

“The penalty shout seemed like a clear dive to me. It’s evident if you look at that slowly back. Rob the referee may find it challenging, but I think the linesman should have seen it clearly.
A status update on captain Christian Norgaard, who was substituted during the first half at the Emirates, was also given by the Brentford head coach.
