BREAKING NEWS: Joe Cole questions Chelsea's desire to pay whatever price to sign a 25-year-old player, arguing that the team would be better off going after a different "goal-scoring powerhouse."

In the midst of persistent transfer rumors connecting Napoli’s 25-year-old striker Victor Osimhen to Chelsea, former Chelsea player and pundit Joe Cole has offered his thoughts on the player.

Osimhen has demonstrated his goal-scoring ability by managing to score eight goals in 18 appearances for Napoli this season, despite obstacles like injuries and international commitments.

Osimhen ended his season with the Italian champions with a noteworthy 31 goals in 39 games.

Cole believes Osimhen has a lot of potential and attractive qualities that make him a desirable prospect, despite his recent decline in performance.

Osimhen is a promising addition to any top forward lineup because of his strength, speed, and general goal-scoring ability.

Osimhen’s possible interest from Chelsea has spurred transfer rumors, and Cole is in favor of Osimhen joining the Premier League team—that is, if a fair deal can be reached.

When talking about up-and-coming young strikers, Cole also mentioned Darwin Nunez’s well-rounded game and Dusan Vlahovic’s technical skill and finishing ability.

Cole noted that all of these players still have room for improvement, but he reiterated his assessment from six months prior—that Osimhen has the most potential.

Osimhen has faced difficulties recently in the 2023–24 campaign, but Cole thinks the Nigerian striker still has what it takes to succeed and possibly break out as the next big thing.

He pointed out that Osimhen and the other young strikers he mentioned might become important players in the game of football.
