In order to join his previous team, Xabi Alonso is hoping to reject Liverpool.

Xabi Alonso, the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, is supposedly being pursued by a prominent European team, and Liverpool may lose out on him.

Alonso has done a fantastic job since taking over at Bayer Leverkusen in October 2022, solidifying his status as one of Europe’s best young managers.

The German squad was headed for relegation when he took control, but he immediately turned things around. Right now, they have a good chance of winning the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen, who haven’t lost this season, extended their lead in the standings to five points with their 3-0 victory over current champions Bayern Munich on Saturday night.

According to Spanish newspaper Nacional, Real Madrid was taken aback by Carlo Ancelotti’s contract extension because of Alonso’s ascent. Nevertheless, Florentino Perez is still keeping an eye on the Leverkusen boss.

Perez has “already called” Alonso to cement his deal for the future, and the manager reportedly asked Leverkusen to listen and negotiate with Real Madrid should he leave before his contract expires in 2026.

The report says that “it seems clear that Alonso will return” to Real Madrid.

The good news for fans of Liverpool is that they can probably assume they have jumped the gun on this one because it is Nacional.

But if they decide to part ways with Thomas Tuchel, Bayern Munich might also be interested in Alonso, thus Liverpool will be up against competition.

At Anfield, the job ahead of the person taking over for Jurgen Klopp will be among the hardest in all of football. It will be difficult for any manager to satisfy the high expectations of the supporters and the team without going over budget like most other clubs.
