The race for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Kaoru Mitoma is expected to be led by Arsenal.

Recent reports claim that Arsenal has surpassed rivals Manchester United and Manchester City in its pursuit of the Japanese international, making significant progress.

Based on his performances since making his Brighton starting eleven debut in 2022, Mikel Arteta thinks Mitoma might be the missing component for Arsenal’s chances, especially against City and Liverpool. After an incredible 2022–2023 season, in which he scored only two goals in the Premier League before completing Arsenal’s resounding victory over Crystal Palace with a breakaway goal, Gabriel Martinelli has had a challenging season.

Mythoma might go the same way as former Brighton players like Ben White and Leandro Trossard, who joined Arsenal, who moved to Big Six teams. Any trade, though, is unlikely to happen in the January transfer window since Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi is reluctant to give up a key player in the middle of the campaign.

Brighton’s past shows that they only offload their best players when the transfer fee and time frame meet their requirements. Although Brighton is rumored to want at least £70 million for Mitoma, and may begin negotiations in the summer, Arsenal is keen to begin negotiations for the 26-year-old striker.
