‘Why?: Theo Walcott fuming with what Mikel Arteta did during Arsenal’s 5-0 win today

Arsenal thrashed Crystal Palace today in front of their home supporters at The Emirates as they resumed their goal-scoring ways.

The Gunners dominated the whole of the match, hardly letting Palace get close and winning easily in the end thanks to goals from Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli. Leandro Trossard’s goal was tucked in between.

Theo Walcott, a former gunner, expressed dissatisfaction with Saka’s continued play and acknowledged that he thought it strange that Arteta kept the winger in the lineup.

Speaking on the match for the BBC, Walcott acknowledged that Arteta’s choice perplexed him.

Looking at the wider picture as a former player, I’m curious as to why Bukayo Saka hasn’t been substituted yet. Leandro Trossard just left the team, but Saka is still active in all of the games he plays despite the type of player he is and the fact that he frequently gets booted all over the field. What Mikel Arteta decides to modify next will be interesting to see, according to Walcott.

Arsenal need to manage Saka

Saka needed a rest, as Walcott had stated prior to the game, therefore it is obvious that watching him play the entire ninety minutes tonight has irritated him.

Naturally, Mikel Arteta will have the best understanding of his teammates and ultimately, he knows what they should and shouldn’t do.

Saka may also just want to play every minute, thus Arteta may have decided to leave him in the game today to see if he might score and regain his confidence.

In any case, Arsenal must use caution while handling their top player. His injury can ruin their season.
