Granit Xhaka, a former midfielder for Arsenal, is set to make an emotional comeback to the Emirates Stadium on December 28 when Arsenal plays West Ham United in the Premier League.
Together with his spouse, the Swiss international, who is well-known for his extraordinary journey with the Gunners, wants to say goodbye with dignity. Xhaka experienced both successes and setbacks during his tenure at Arsenal, most notably a heated altercation with supporters during a 2019 game against Crystal Palace.
When he first met Mikel Arteta, he was thinking about leaving, but a decisive conversation persuaded him to stay. A stellar performance in his last season at Arsenal earned him a great deal of support from the supporters, who chanted for him to stay.
In spite of this, Xhaka experienced conflicting feelings when Edu, the sporting director of Arsenal, informed him of the team’s decision to not renew his contract. As he considered this turn of events, Xhaka acknowledged the uncertainty that had surrounded his future and expressed a mixture of relief and sadness.
