Arsenal legend believes Arteta is misusing a “special player” in the wrong position

The legend of Arsenal believes that Arteta is wasting a “special player” by playing in the wrong position.

The manager of the Gunners, Mikel Arteta, is currently using Kai Havertz in the wrong position, according to legend of Arsenal Paul Merson.

Although Arteta has mostly used Havertz as a midfielder this season, the pundit acknowledges that he feels bad for the Germany international because in his opinion, Havertz is not a midfielder.

During his time at Chelsea, Havertz primarily played up front or as a false nine. However, since joining Arsenal in the summer, Arteta has been oddly reluctant to use him there, and Merson believes this is the reason why the player is currently struggling.

Even though some could contend that Havertz didn’t exactly light up the Chelsea striker scene, it’s also true that he was playing for a dysfunctional team and under several different managers; as such, he might perform better in his preferred role in this more established Arsenal squad.

As reported by the Metro, Merson said of Havertz on Sky Sports, “He’s struggling a bit.” He had a shot that was blocked; if you hit it with four in a row, it could deflect or go in if you hit it beautifully.

“I feel bad for him; in my opinion, he should be a center forward rather than a midfielder. At 6 feet 4 inches, he could be a No. 10.

“He performed admirably, and Arsenal did a great job as well; they got the ball inside the box and he entered it.”He’s a big boy, and I hope he succeeds because I believe he’s a unique player who is having difficulty. Every professional faces challenges, and he is going through a difficult period right now. Hopefully, he will overcome it.
