Mikel Arteta needs to sign a “phenomenal” 1.9M tall striker who is faster than Jeremy Doku of Manchester City and better than Ivan Toney. Arsenal legend Ian Wight says, “If I’m the Sporting Director, I’ll be signing this guy for Arsenal by January because he’s a very complete striker.”
Now more than ever, Arsenal is desperate to sign a striker before Jeremy Doku does.
The possibility that Arsenal will sign a new striker in January has been heavily speculated.
This season, the north London team wants to win the Premier League, but many don’t think they can unless they have a legitimate 20-goal striker on their roster.
Football Transfers reports that although Mikel Arteta has identified another striker as his top target, Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins have recently been linked.
Dusan Vlahovic is Arsenal’s top striker target going into January, according to Football Transfers.
It’s hardly shocking that this rumor has surfaced.
Over the past three transfer windows, Vlahovic has reportedly been linked to Arsenal.
Prior to the Serbian striker joining Juventus in 2021, the Gunners expressed interest in signing him; however, at that time, the striker decided to move to Turin instead of north London.
Vlahovic might be persuaded to sign with the Gunners at this time given the power shift that has occurred since then as Arsenal’s stock has increased and Juventus’ stock has continued to decline.
The Gunners could make an interesting signing in Vlahovic. Like Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, he skillfully combined speed, strength, and skill, making him a modern striker.
At six feet three, Vlahovic has a massive build, but he moves quickly as well. He is actually faster than Jeremy Doku, according to The Speeds Database, a player whose speed has destroyed multiple defenses this season.
It remains to be seen if this deal closes, but as the January transfer window draws near, Vlahovic is someone to keep an eye on.
