Arsenal team news: Arteta selects Saka and Odegaard, and the predicted starting lineup against Burnley

Before Arsenal’s Premier League match against Burnley today (3pm), manager Mikel Arteta must make a decision regarding his starting lineup.

Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Burnley this afternoon. Mikel Arteta has a small roster to pick from because of further injury concerns. Express Sport looks at the lineup he will announce at the Emirates.

Goalkeeper – Raya

Aaron Ramsdale will watch from the sidelines as David Raya stays in goal. Raya hasn’t given up a goal in his last three home games and was largely untroubled against Sevilla in the midweek match.

Ramsdale will be happy to continue playing for England under Gareth Southgate. It remains to be seen, though, if Southgate will still pick him if he doesn’t get back to playing for his club.

Defence – White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko

After the half, Takehiro Tomiyasu sustained an injury as Arsenal defeated Sevilla 2-0. According to Arteta, the Japanese player was uncomfortable in the first half and they didn’t want to take a chance on him.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is the obvious choice to replace him at left back. This season, Ben White has carried a heavy load, starting every league game.

He will take a break in the upcoming weeks, though, as Southgate has rejected him once more. William Saliba will partner Gabriel in the middle of the defense.

Midfield – Jorginho, Havertz, Rice

Across three different competitions, Martin Odegard has not started any of Arsenal’s last four games. It is unlikely that the Norwegian celebrity will be put at risk right away if he is not fully well.

Kai Havertz might therefore continue to hold Odegaard’s position. Arteta was overjoyed with the German midweek after he had a couple of close misses.

In the middle of the field, Jorginho and Declan Rice will most likely start again. Emile Smith Rowe is sidelined due to a knee injury, and Thomas Partey is anticipated to miss the remainder of the campaign.

Attack – Saka, Trossard, Martinelli

On Wednesday, Bukayo Saka hobbled off the field after his Spanish opponents repeatedly fouled him. He should be able to play today though, as it was only an impact injury.

Leandro Trossard scored the first goal against Sevilla, taking advantage of his opportunity. He was able to maintain his No. 9 ranking as a result.

It looks like Arteta will have to make that call because Eddie Nketiah is sidelined due to injury and Gabriel Jesus is out due to a hamstring issue. Gabriel Martinelli is an offensive player who plays on the left side.

Starting against Burnley are Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Jorginho, Havertz, Rice; Saka, Trossard, and Martinelli.
