“70 touches, 11 duels contested, and 9 dribbles attempted”- Arsenal icon Thierry Henry was wowed by Arsenal’s star performance against Sevilla last night who produced his best performance of the season so far
“Nine dribbles attempted, 11 duels contested, and 70 touches”- Arsenal emblem Last night’s stellar performance by Arsenal against Sevilla, which was his best of the season thus far, amazed Thierry Henry.
The forward for Arsenal defeated Sevilla 2-0 last night in the Champions League group stage, putting on his best performance of the year.
At the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners controlled the action right away. In the last third of the pitch, Martinelli and Bukayo Saka both played significant roles.
With a help from Saka, Leandro Trossard gave the Gunners the lead in the 29th minute.
After the hour, the latter scored a goal of his own thanks to a brilliant through pass from Martinelli.
Sevilla was limited to just one attempt on goal by Arsenal. Martinelli, in our opinion, had an outstanding performance against Sevilla’s defense, and it was a total dominance.
Throughout the match, the Brazilian sensation ran a lot and outran their defense, winning an impressive 11 duels and completing nine dribbles.
Martinelli completed 81 minutes with 70 touches and an 85% passing accuracy. Having no focal point up front, he was unlucky to attempt 12 crosses.
Arsenal now leads their group with nine points after the victory. They lead PSV Eindhoven and Lens, who are in second and third place, respectively, by four points.
After the international break, they play Lens at the Emirates Stadium, and a win there would guarantee them a spot in the round of 16.
This season, the Gunners suffered a little setback when they lost 2-1 at Lens, but they bounced back admirably, defeating Sevilla in their next two encounters.
This weekend, Mikel Arteta’s team will play Burnley at home in the Premier League, where they should have a good chance of winning easily once more.
