Aaron Ramsdale breaks silence on losing Arsenal spot to David Raya with honest admission as shot stoppers battle for No 1 spot against Chelsea

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale cracked a joke about losing the starting job to David Raya this year.

Aaron Ramsdale, the goalie for Arsenal, has recently made light of the fact that David Raya is now the starter. Since replacing Bernd Leno as the Gunners’ starting goalkeeper in the summer of 2021, the England international had been a member of Sheffield United.

Ramsdale was, however, dropped from Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup for his team’s 1-0 victory over Everton last month, and summer acquisition Raya replaced him as the Spaniard’s main shot-stopper. The 25-year-old has finally spoken out on the matter, making light of his recent lack of victories in a video with his England teammates.

Ramsdale competed against Eddie Nketiah, an Arsenal attacker, in a game of carrot in a box. In reference to the entertaining contest, Nketiah said Channel 4: “I think that’s going to be his downfall, to be honest, he wants to win too much.”

The two colleagues then broke out in laughter, with the legendary shot-stopper apparently making fun of Raya taking over his position. The Brentford loanee’s starting position against Chelsea this Saturday at Stamford Bridge is still up in the air.

The Spaniard last faced Manchester City, the defending Premier League champions, and kept a clean sheet, but he was criticized for his passing against Pep Guardiola’s team.

On the Gary Neville Podcasts, he admitted, “I was worried about the goalkeeper in the first half – he escaped a disaster there.

“You have seen it happen if he gives up a goal in the first half because of one of those nervous moments.” He had to finish the game, which he did, or else there might have been a major issue.
