Arsenal’s owner Stan Kroenke revealed his aggression over Arsenal’s sale of £8M ‘electric attacker’ who has been performing better than Bukayo Saka since leaving Arsenal

“Arsenal made a tremendous mistake by letting him leave for merely £8M,” said Arsenal’s owner in reference to the £8M sale of a “electric forward” who has outperformed Bukayo Saka since leaving the team. “He’s scored 103 goals and produced 60 assists since leaving Arsenal.

Since Saka’s departure, Arsenal’s £8 million acquisition has outclassed him. Arsenal will always be sorry for letting this incredible talent depart the Emirates Stadium when he was a youngster.

Arsenal has taken tremendous pride in their Hale End academy over the years.

Arsene Wenger used it frequently for hunting throughout his fruitful time in the city, of course. Consider Jack Wilshere, Hector Bellerin, Tony Adams, who was already a graduate when the Frenchman arrived.

Since Wenger departed the Emirates, nobody anticipated such a reliance on it. Bukayo Saka made his first-team debut under Unai Emery, but it was Mikel Arteta who made the club’s mascot into the two-time Player of the Year for England.

Thierry Henry’s fabled number 14 is currently worn by Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe is assigned the number 10, and a certain Folarin Balogun was even sold for £35 million. It’s reasonable to say that Hale End has never had more talent than it has in the past four to five years.

How many goals has Saka scored for Arsenal?

In usual form, the 22-year-old netted his first goal for the Gunners. It only requires one guess to determine how.

Under Emery’s direction, Saka received the ball on the right side and surged into the box before curling the ball past the goaltender from the edge of the box.

It’s a finish that has come to be associated with the talented young winger. Think about his crisp shot against Nottingham Forest on the first weekend of this season or his delightful curling attempt from a distance against Manchester United the previous campaign.

Although Saka is currently striving to surpass the great Dutchman’s legacy in the game, it has an Arjen Robben sense about it.

England’s star has only risen since the game against Eintracht Frankfurt when he was 18 years old.

After contributing to 45 other goals and 43 goals themselves in 189 first-team appearances, he was named to the PFA Team of the Season for 2022–2023, earned the PFA Young Player of the Season award, and is presently a Ballon d’Or nominee. It’s amazing how consistently he contributes to his teammates’ success and scores goals.

He is hardly the only winger from Arsenal’s development program to post figures like these though. Serge Gnabry, kindly take over.

What accomplishments did Serge Gnabry make at Arsenal?

In September 2012, against Coventry City in the League Cup, the German made his senior debut for the Gunners. That was eleven years ago. He made his Premier League debut less than a month later, becoming the second-youngest Arsenal player to do so after Jack Wilshere at the age of 17.

Even though Gnabry didn’t score every day, his career since going to London for less than £100,000 has been amazing.

It took him a full year before he scored his first goal in Arsenal gear, which led to a 2-1 victory over Swansea City. It was a turning point in his football career that determined how the rest of it would go.

The attacker wowed with his energetic efforts despite rarely getting regular starts and leaving the club with just one goal and two assists.

Why did Gnabry leave Arsenal?

The international player from Germany moved for Werder Bremen in 2016 for £8 million, citing a lack of opportunities.

In a post-departure interview, he admitted, “I was still confident I could’ve made the team, but I didn’t want to wait.” I no longer desired to be the fourth or fifth choice.

I had to take a step back in order to continue playing, and it was the right choice. Leaving a club like Arsenal – the fans, the players – was the hardest decision I had to make in football.

Where is Serge Gnabry now?

Since leaving north London, the 28-year-old’s career has been excellent. The winger, who has now received 43 Germany caps, has dominated both the Bundesliga and international soccer.

Before joining Bayern Munich, he played for Werder Bremen for just 27 games, although he scored 11 goals and provided assists on another two.

Before returning to Munich with a point to show, he enjoyed a successful loan season with Hoffenheim, where in 26 games, he scored ten goals and assisted seven others.

Since regularly entering the Bayern Munich team, Gnabry has been nothing short of fantastic. He once led the Bundesliga club to a spectacular 7-2 Champions League triumph over Tottenham while scoring four goals. Arsenal supporters undoubtedly liked that night.

These are only four of the explosive flanker’s 15 goals in the Champions League; for his current team, he has also scored an amazing 60 goals in the Bundesliga.

How does Saka stack up against Gnabry?

Comparing his situation to Saka’s would be rude, but we’ll do it anyhow.

Saka’s breakthrough came later, and it wouldn’t be shocking if he eventually ousted Gnabry, but even last season, the latter outperformed Arsenal’s current all-time leading scorer.

In fact, the wide winger for England scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists in 48 appearances in 2022–23. Gnabry scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists in 47 games.

The decision to let the talented German player depart the club in Wenger’s final years in charge may have left Arsenal with grave regrets. After all, he has since scored 103 goals, but Saka’s emergence has surely made it easier for them to observe from a distance knowing that the opportunity to cash in wasn’t a total failure.
