ARTETA HAS DECIDED WHO'S ARSENAL’S NUMBER ONE

Looks like Raya is here to stay

Arsenal fans were a little taken aback when Arteta started David Raya in place of Aaron Ramsdale against Everton, but after repeated inquiries about the decision, Arteta had claimed that it was more due to rotation than to form. However, after Arteta started Raya for the third straight game on Sunday afternoon, Arsenal fans are wondering if Raya is now our number one.

With clean sheets against PSV and Everton in the Champions League, Raya, who joined Arsenal this summer on a season-long loan with the option to purchase him next summer, has had a strong start to the season. Raya appears to be the real deal.

Raya made two flawless starts in red and white before Tottenham visited the emirates and managed to score twice past him. This caused some Arsenal supporters to worry about Raya’s future in goal and to wonder if Arteta had acted a little too quickly in promoting Ramsdale.

Ramsdale, who was outstanding for us last season and helped us get to where we are now, will undoubtedly be dissatisfied. While every player wants to start, goalkeepers are arguably the most difficult players to maintain a positive attitude toward, and moving between two is frequently unsuccessful.

As we saw last season with Fabio Vieira, when Arteta makes his mind up about something, he will usually stick with it until it works, and I think Raya will be the same. Picking him to start against Tottenham I think sends the message that he is the first-choice keeper and if he swaps them now, after one bad game from Raya, it sends the wrong message.

What’s your thoughts Gooners? Has Arteta made a mistake swapping the keepers so early in the season? How will he manage to keep both Raya and Ramsdale happy?
