Ex-Tottenham manager says Arsenal player is better than James Maddison

Tim Sherwood believes Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is a better player to James Maddison

Tim Sherwood, a former manager of Tottenham Hotspur, thinks the Arsenal star is a superior player to James Maddison. On September 24, Arsenal will play host to rivals from North London, Tottenham, at the Emirates Stadium. Both teams have had promising starts to the season.

Maddison, who transferred from Leicester City to Tottenham last summer, is settling in well under Ange Postecoglou and was named August’s Premier League Player of the Month.

When Tim Sherwood spoke on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, he was questioned about how many Tottenham players might fit into the current Arsenal roster. To everyone’s surprise, Sherwood struggled to name even one Spurs player for this fictitious situation.

Sherwood ultimately admitted that, in his perspective, Martin Odegaard is the better player at this point, despite James Maddison nearly receiving a nod.

Sherwood discussed the strengths of the two masters of the midfield and said, “At the moment, there isn’t one that stands out to me who gets into the team. Vicario began off pretty well, but I don’t know because I don’t know enough about him. Son, but who do you exclude, I wondered? Saka? Martinelli? Odegaard is required to be on the team and fills in for Maddison.

The Tottenham player has had an outstanding start to the current campaign and may now be considered the league’s best player. If he continues to produce at this level for a few more months, the argument between the two players might get much more heated.

Fans are looking forward to Maddison and Odegaard’s forthcoming showdown on the field next week because they are both obviously talented.
