Kyle Walker 'set for new contract to ward off Bayern Munich' and more Man City transfer rumours

In order to keep Kyle Walker at the Treble champions and fend off any interest from Bayern Munich this summer, Manchester City may offer him a new two-year contract.

The 33-year-old, who joined City from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017, has been a highly successful acquisition. Walker contributed to the club’s historic Treble triumph in the most recent season.

For Pep Guardiola’s team, the 33-year-old has made more than 250 appearances and scored six goals. During a trophy-laden career, the former Sheffield United player won five Premier League championships, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups, and the Champions League.

Walker’s current City contract expires in a year. As things stand, this summer is City’s only opportunity to get a sizeable transfer fee; otherwise, the right-back would be free to depart for nothing in a year.

According to reports, Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in bringing the seasoned defender to the Allianz Arena this summer. However, City might have a strategy to try to fend off the German powerhouses’ interest in Walker.

The Daily Telegraph reports that City is set to extend Walker a fresh two-year contract to keep him at the Etihad Stadium. If the defender commits, it may lessen the likelihood that he will leave for Bavaria this summer and reaffirm his commitment to the team.

Leciester City, who recently hired Enzo Maresca as their manager, are reportedly “eyeing” Shea Charles, a 19-year-old midfielder who now plays for Northern Ireland on the international level. Charles made his City debut at the close of the previous campaign, entering the game against Brentford as a substitute in a 1-0 loss.

READ MORE  VERY SAD NEWS has just been announced this morning and it’s the most wanted BREAKING NEWS in the world of football that the English Football Association (FA) struck Pep Guardiola with 115 count charges for an infraction that occurred during a match between Manchester United and Liverpool during the previous season.

Links from the Foxes to the City potential are not unexpected. Prior to moving to the King Power Stadium this summer to take command of Leicester ahead of the new season in the Championship as they strive to earn promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt, Maresca was a member of Guardiola’s backroom staff at City last season.
