City focus on Gvardiol as they get double transfer boost
In the summer transfer window, Manchester City is still focused on finding a deal for Josko Gvardiol.
After finding success with four centre-backs across his backline, Pep Guardiola is hoping to add the 21-year-old defender to his squad for the upcoming season. There are presently nine senior defenders on City’s roster, although Joao Cancelo, Aymeric Laporte, and Kyle Walker may depart, while 18-year-old Rico Lewis is still gaining experience.
Despite advanced negotiations, City are not yet prepared to meet RB Leipzig’s asking price of £85 million for Croatian star Gvardiol plus further performance-related incentives, but all parties remain optimistic that a deal can be reached. As City looks to build on their Treble-winning campaign, securing Gvardiol will continue to be their primary business in the market this summer.
City’s clear replacement for Bernardo
The midfield upheaval at Manchester City could not possibly be as extreme as it appeared to be at the start of the summer.
