Man City 'ready to make late move' for Manchester United target and more transfer rumours

Kim Min-jae, a defender for Napoli, is reportedly a target for Manchester City, who are’ready to make a late move’.

Mateo Kovacic, who is set to leave Chelsea for City for £25 million, had a physical on Friday, putting them closer to making their first summer acquisition.

However, the Blues have other options in mind as they search for a replacement for departed Ilkay Gundogan.

Pep Guardiola also has a top priority list for new defenders, especially with Aymeric Laporte, Joao Cancelo, and Kyle Walker’s futures up in the air.

The trio may look for a summer job due to their various grievances about their lack of playing time last season.

Should one of them leave, City will undoubtedly need to improve their defensive options, which has generated ties to Kim from Napoli.

The South Korean international’s reputation in the sport substantially improved this past season as a result of his pivotal contribution to his team’s historic Serie A title triumph.

Since Harry Maguire is expected to be sold, Erik ten Hag has been looking to improve his own defensive ranks and Manchester United has been credited with a strong interest in the player.

According to reports, Kim has a £50 million release clause that will supposedly take effect in July.

United have reportedly given up on signing the 26-year-old, with Bayern Munich leading the race to sign him, according to FootballInsider. It has since been added, though, that City is keeping an eye on the situation and might act quickly.

Even if City is looking for a center back this summer, Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig is the top target for now.

Achraf Hakimi, a standout for Paris Saint-Germain, has also been connected to City. Even though City has been using four center backs in the back line since 2023, if Walker and Cancelo both leave, they will undoubtedly need to be replaced by at least one full back.

While Mundo Deportivo thinks Hakimi is looking to leave PSG because of the unfavorable atmosphere at the club, Marca claims City wants to recruit Hakimi and would not object to the enormous sum the Parisians would require.
