Declan Rice transfer latest: Man Utd and Manchester City ‘considering’  as Arsenal offer rejected

Declan Rice, a star player for West Ham United, is likely to finalize a move away from East London, and his story is swiftly becoming into one of the major summer transfer stories.

The midfielder is apparently a target for Manchester United, Manchester City, and Arsenal. He led the Hammers to European glory in what was likely his final game for the team.

The Gunners have been the most aggressive in their pursuit of Rice, and on Tuesday, they had a second offer—supposed to be an initial £75 million plus £15 million in add-ons—rejected. According to the Daily Mail, West Ham is holding out for an offer of approximately £100 million for the England international while Arsenal will shortly make a third offer.

According to numerous reports, Rice wants to go with Arsenal, but the two Manchester teams are trying to sway him. According to the Telegraph, David Moyes is a “huge admirer” of both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay, two players who may be given as part of a cash-plus-player offer from United for the 24-year-old.

“It is understood Maguire’s wage expectations may prohibit a move to West Ham, if he could be persuaded to accept the transfer, while it remains to be seen whether McTominay would be enthusiastic about making the switch,” according to the Telegraph. The newspaper also reports West Ham is considering a move for James Ward-Prowse as Rice’s replacement.

If Ilkay Gundogan leaves, City, according to The Athletic, would be interested in signing the Hammers captain. The German international is expected to sign with Barcelona, according to a story that surfaced just a few hours later. The transfer may be official in the next few days.

The Athletic reports that while there has been no definitive decision, “City have enquired about Rice as a contingency plan,” and that Kalvin Phillips may be given to West Ham as a makeweight in any trade, despite the former Leeds United player having stated on Monday that he wants to stay at the Etihad.

Meanwhile, City are also expected to wrap up the signing of Mateo Kovacic soon, with the Croatian joining from Chelsea to bolster Pep Guardiola’s midfield options.
