Despite the fact that Manchester City won an unprecedented treble, several of its stars are expected to leave the team this summer.
The team led by Pep Guardiola had a tremendous season, making them only the second Premier League team, after rivals Manchester United, to win the triple crown.
Prior to shocking United in the FA Cup final at Wembley to win yet another domestic trophy, City defeated Arsenal in the Premier League title race to defend its title.
The Etihad residents won the Champions League for the first time in their history by defeating Serie A powerhouse Inter Milan in the Istanbul final to clinch the triple.
Despite his team’s success, sources indicate Guardiola wants to restructure it this summer in order to pursue more success with the club the following year.
Are Silva and Gundogan about to leave?
Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva, a midfield pairing, may be the first Man City players to go this summer.
Gundogan was a standout throughout Man City’s championship defense and led his team to victory in the Champions League final in Istanbul.
But because of his impending contract expiration, several teams, including Barcelona and Arsenal, are on high alert.
Silva, on the other hand, has hinted of leaving City in the past and may do so now as well.
Who else could depart Man City?
Reports suggest Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez and Kalvin Phillips are the other players who could be on their way out.
Man City are said to be open to letting Laporte leave this summer after featuring just 12 times this season.
Mahrez, on the other hand, has evidently dropped down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium, with Pep appearing to favour Silva and Grealish ahead of him.
The Algerian has already courted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.
On his part, Philips has failed to live up to his billing at City, sparking claims he could be offloaded after just a season with the Premier League champions.
Who does Pep want?
It is understood that Pep has since drawn up a transfer wishlist of players he wants to add to his squad this summer.
Key among the players is Chelsea midfield maestro Mateo Kovacic, who could potentially replace Gundogan.
The Mirror reports that the Spaniard is eyeing at least three transfers, with RB Leipzig’s £80m-rated defender Josko Gvardiol also top on his wishlist.
Brighton’s 19-year-old Paraguay winger Julio Enciso has also been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium.
